Building my personal website through the WordPress Credits program was an important learning experience for me. I chose WordPress.com because the managed hosting and domain provided through the WP Credits sponsor offer made the initial setup easier. I selected meahadihasan.blog as my personal website and started building it as both a portfolio and a place to document my WordPress Credits journey.
While building the website, I worked on the Home, About, Projects, WordPress Credits, and Contact sections. One of the main challenges was understanding how WordPress blocks, columns, navigation, categories, featured images, Query Loop, spacing, and templates work together. I also spent time making the website responsive so that it works properly on both desktop and mobile devices.
Through this process, I learned that WordPress is much more flexible than I initially expected. Small changes in block structure, spacing, responsive settings, and custom CSS can make a significant difference to the final design. I also became more comfortable using the Site Editor and organizing content properly.
The most useful decision I made was building the website step by step and checking both desktop and mobile views while working. If I were helping another WP Credits student, I would recommend keeping the first version simple, understanding the block structure first, and testing responsiveness regularly instead of trying to perfect everything at once.
